Black by Ted Dekker is the first is a three book series called "The Circle Trilogy." The second book is called Red and the third book is called White. Black opens up the story with Thomas who is an ordinary guy for the first few pages, but soon we find that he has people out to kill him.
Further into Black the fact that he was being chased by some killers seems trivial because so much unfolds. So much that it can't be contained in just one world. Thats right, two worlds are included in the pages of Black. Ted Dekker instills a sense of longing for the each world as the story sweeps back and forth between.
Thomas has the fate of the world, no, of the worlds in his hands. His world seems to be quite black though as no one seems to listen. Fade to black.
Black will grab you and throw you into two worlds. You reach the end only to find you must seek out the next books, Red, and White so that you don't leave Thomas alone.
